I notice that prior to this journal entry, that it has been since February that I have legally purchased music, and for that case, CDs. Pathetic right? Luckily, the last two CDs that I've purchased were Interpol's
Turn On The Bright Lights, and
Antics.
I am now reminded of the gloriousness of used book stores. Particularly here in Indianapolis, there is a chain of used book stores called Half-Price Books. As with likely many other used book stores, they also happen to sell used music.
I purchased:
Ani DiFranco's
Up Up Up Up Up Up - $5.98 USD
This was purchased almost entirely on a whim. I have heard good words of her from the regular posters of the music forum, and I have heard good words of her from my AP Literature teacher. I have yet to listen to this, so I shall follow up on my purchase momentarily.
The Chemical Brothers'
Dig Your Own Hole - $5.98 USD
A friend of mine had sent me a song of theirs in a compilation no too long ago. the song was
Galvanize (Feat. Q-Tip). This can be heard on Budweiser Select commercials. It's a tight song. So this can be considered a purchase on a whim. I have yet to listen to this however, and I shall follow up soon.
ATB's
The DJ' In The Mix - (Two Disc Set) - $7.98 USD
This is really a compilation of many artists for the record. Anyways, this is my true whim of a purchase for the day. I am listening to this as I type, and I absolutely love this album. I love dance music, and unfortunately have not been exposed to much of it, with the exception of listening to the internet radio on rare occasions. For eight dollars, this is a steal.
I must do this more often.
